Theories of modernization and development which originated in the West during the 18th centuy, the so called century of 'Enlightenment', are secular, individualistic and ethnocentric. Hence, the Western dominant model of political development may not be be relevant to Muslim societies. Here, therfore, an attempt is made for re-conceptualization of political Development from Islamic perspective. As such, this book is a pioneering work in the area of political development from an Islamic perspective. The book comprises of two parts : (I) Conceptualization and Issues and (ii) Case studies. In the first part, definitions of Development and Political Development and the related issues of Shura ,Participation, Administrative efficiency, the need for Techno-scientific development are explored and analyzed. In the second part, the problem of political stability, economic growth , Islamization of related issues in the countries like Malaysia, Bangladesh and Sudan are critically eveluated. With a view that the Western dominant model for political development may not be relevant to Muslim societies, the author attempts to re-conceptualize political development from an Islamic perspective. It also critically evaluates the political development and problems faced by countries like Malaysia, Bangladesh and Sudan.
