Mr.Sampath:The Printer of Malgudi reveals the relation between an editor and printer written in R.K.Narayan’s trademark style. Set in the fictitious town of Malgudi, it brings forth the story of the editor Mr. Shrinivas and the printer Mr. Sampath. They are required to work together to bring out ‘The Banner’, Malgudi’s journal. The relation that these men share during the publication of ‘The Banner’ is enviable and redefines professional relationship. However, they encounter a situation where they have to stop the publication of the journal temporarily. In order to keep themselves busy, they join a film company. Sampath gets into an affair with an actress and therefore puts his life in jeopardy. Shrinivas is overburdened with the level of his duties and leaves the line of film making and commences the bringing out of the journal with some other printer. Though he maintained the same cordial relation with Sampath, the latter is too deeply involved with the actress to be overwhelmed by this incident. After losing everything dear to him, Sampath comes to seek the solace of his most trusted friend.
