Medical tourism is the process of traveling to other countries to gain medical treatment. The global medical tourism industry was estimated at USD 10.5 billion in 2012. It is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 17.9 % between 2013 and 2019 and reach USD 32.5 billion in 2019. Destination choice was considered the most important factor behind the decision to travel to other states and/or countries for obtaining medical treatment. Research has concluded that various pre-purchase and post-purchase factors play important roles in the destination choice decision-making process. The two main objectives behind writing this book were to study the perceptions of medical travelers regarding various destination choice decision-making factors and the state of Gujarat as a destination for medical tourism and to identify the important factors behind medical service providers moving towards Gujarat.
