Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin (1889??1977), better known as Charlie Chaplin, was one of the most celebrated film actors in the world. He acted in, directed, scripted, produced, and eventually scored the music for films as one of the most creative personalities of the silent film era. He worked as an entertainer for over 65 years, from the Victorian stage and the Music Hall in the United Kingdom as a child performer almost until his death at the age of 88.
Chaplin's most famous character was a poor tramp with a toothbrush moustache. His refined manners and dignity, combined with the funny situations he got into, made people laugh helplessly.
